I loved it!! Picking up where Dark Hollow left off I went on a journey with Tabitha to find answers to her many questions regarding her childhood & who her mother really is...be careful what you ask for, the truth may lead to more questions & trouble!! The characters got into my head & have stayed with me; I want book 3 now!!! I couldn't put the book down! I loved this book! I’ve been waiting for it since I finished Dark Hollow and it was worth the wait. A lot of my questions from the last book were answered, but now I have a ton of new ones. Just like Dark Hollow, Dark Legacy hits the ground running with Tabitha meeting her mysterious father, Antoine, early on. Antoine is of the governing social elite, always entertaining heads of state and other aristocrats in his guarded mansion. He is very excited to finally find his long lost daughter, with whom he can share his lavish lifestyle. But all that glitters is not gold things aren’t adding up to Tabitha and people from her past keep popping up shed light onto things she wasn’t expecting.
It’s a fast-paced plot that kept me from putting the book down. Tabitha is a great character. She’s getting to know herself and gaining strength. I’m looking forward to her coming into her own – Tabitha is going to be exciting to watch.
I recommend this fantasy HIGHLY and cannot wait for the third book!

I found this story began with the usual teen angst. I was not expecting to be as surprised and impressed with the plot as I was by the time I finished reading. I liked the characters and Ms. Winter took the plot in directions I would never have imagined. While I felt at a disadvantage from reading the second book in the series before the first, it was not enough to dilute my enjoyment with the plot twists. Definitely well worth the read.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review. Wonderfully written. Dark Legacy was a wonderful story. I love that it had a little mystery, romance, danger and a little sadness. I will not give the story away, but I would love to read the 3rd book to continue the story.
I would also like to add that I did not know that this was book number two. It's not to bad because this has happen to me in the past. I always get the 1st book and read the one that follows again. Still I did love the story. My favorite character, of course was Tabitha Devins. I was hopping to read more about Katie, but was sad about that part. Again Wonderful story.
Dark Legacy is the second book in the Hidden Heritage series by Tara Winters. I loved the first book, Dark Hollow, and was anxiously awaiting the sequel to continue to follow Tabitha on her journey to discover her heritage, which also is her journey of self-discovery. Dark Legacy delivers on all levels - well-executed, fast-paced and with several unexpected twists and turns, the story keeps the reader engaged and turning the pages as quickly as possible to find out what happens next! After racing through the first read, I had to read the book again to take in all of the developments. Tabitha is an engaging complex character, and it is a joy to follow her as she slowly unearths the truths about her father Antoine and the relationship between Antoine and Doni - but for every question that is answered, at least two more arise, especially about Doni and Trude. Antoine evolves as a great dark character, his lust for ascendancy is driving Caska into a crisis which he is manufacturing, and from which he intends to save it, thus consolidating his power, and Tabitha is caught in a web of intrigue that she barely understands. Tabitha makes some terrifying discoveries, but also finds new friends and family members. One of the most satisfying aspects of Dark Legacy is the development of Tabitha as a person; she is likable because she is flawed and makes mistakes, some of them hilarious. The book ends with a lot of unanswered questions, and some tough decisions facing Tabitha, including whom she should trust. All in all a great read - I am now anxiously awaiting the third book in the series! Keep up the great work, Tara Winters!

Tabitha is thrust into the world of Caska when she meets her mysterious father, Antoine. Questions of her mothers past and her disappearances are answered, but what is the truth? Who can she trust and what should she believe?
The Author did a wonderful job creating a world where all imaginable creatures live. I enjoyed this book from start to finish! It was fresh and flowed nicely.
I did have trouble relating to Tabitha, her personality is cute but didn’t pull me in as she could have with a bit more character development. But all in all, this was a cute and fun read.
A very interesting journey into a very well written story of discovery of a new world.
Tabitha's adventure takes so many paths I was riveted. It's a great story with memorable characters and surprisingly deep themes.
